Mississauga Chronicles

 Hello Street Art Lovers !

It has been so long since I posted any street art updates or my thoughts when I see them. Even though I haven't been posting much but I have surely maintained the collection.

Now, since I have some time in my hands it has been decided that the posts shall start flowing again. Brace yourselves peeps and prepare to get your minds blown because that's what "Art" does right?

Currently I am between switching jobs and studying (meh) but there is one thing that I don't stop thinking about, "Where will I spot the next beauty?".

When I moved to Mississauga, I was aware of the sculptures and art galleries, what I was not aware about was that there are some hidden gems in this place and as always I happened to spot one during a long walk finding food and the good art makes you forget things like hunger too :D

I see, I stop, everything else has to stop as well, because I need to savor this moment, absorb the colors, understand when it was made, why etc....

Posting my latest find below for you guys as well. I will also be using the same blogpost depending upon my mood to continue posting about the street art specific to this location.

Amália Rodrigues

Person in the Mural : Amália Rodrigues, Queen of Fado

Location: Streetsville, Mississauga (ON)

Artist : Matthew Cadoch

This mural is part of a worldwide project to commemorate Amália Rodrigues, she was a major figure in the Portuguese music universe and also known as the "Queen of Fado". This idea belongs to Herman Alves and is produced by Hermedia.

Fado - is filled with a mixture of sadness and nostalgia, longing and resignation. It is melancholic and also termed as saudade in Portuguese.

For a brief second when you will hear the music which I am sure you'll be drawn to once you have read the post, you will feel as if its the background music of Frida Kahlo's life.

I can't wait to make my next stop to Toronto’s "Little Portugal" where a different mural of her awaits. Toronto's old markets and lanes are and art lovers dream. See you all soon!

Insta Roar!

" I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter, dancing
through the fire 'Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear
me roar Louder, louder than a lion"
While exploring on various mediums, especially Instagram I found something grand and worth sharing.

Unleashed Tiger in Johannesburg

Leopard breaking free into Johannesburg

  Leopard breaking free into Johannesburg

What attracted me to this one was the use of colors and the magical effect of the tiger and leopard actually breaking free. The geometric effetc when the leopard is jumping out is phenomenal.

Connection

In the popular book series "Harry Potter", there is a fictional game by the name "Quidditch". In that there is a "Seeker", a person who is supposed to catch the snitch a Golden ball that spins and runs like the wind in mid-air, with the blink of an eye it disappears. Blink, is the name of a book written by Malcolm Gladwell, in which he mentions that it just takes one fleeting second to know that there is something, it could be wrong or it could be a point of similarity or difference.
For this post, I am the Seeker, the artwork is the golden snitch and the "Blink" moment is the similarity that I notice, I don't know about you guys. You'll have to see it to belive it.
What happens when two different people, from different places have similar ideas?
What if a third person, sitting in an entirely different place far from them notices it? They don't know, what I know.
Interesting?

Well, you're about to see is more interesting than that.

One is a Street Artist, whose work I recently came across. The other one is an Illustrator and designer based in Phillipines who occasionally does wall art too.

Street Art & Google

Google - Street Art Project

What happens when a search engine giant finds unique artists and their artwork from around the world, maps them and allows everyone to have dekko?

Well, we have some magic floating around, we need to look clearly. Here is a quick look. You may go to the link above as well. The pictures are pretty much the same.

Vhils using the texture of the wall as a canvas

One amazing thing that Google has done with this project is that they have made the inaccessible artwork available to the world. With the help of the StreetView you can go and see the places that actually had artwork but are now maybe off the walls or demolished.
